Online Blackjack Tips - Splitting Eights

Splitting Eights

It is inevitable that at some point in playing online blackjack, you will eventually end up with a pair of eights. Knowing how to split, when to split and why players often split eights can help you to take advantage of your game. The rule of thumb for blackjack, both online and in traditional casinos, is to always split a pair of eights and play each card separately. After all, this does give you an advantage by offering you two chances to hit that coveted twenty-one. Research has shown that keeping both eights and playing them together has a much higher rate of actually busting whereas splitting them offers two chances to stay in the game.

Splitting eights provides a much better chance of winning since you are actually playing with two hands instead of one. Keep in mind that in online blackjack, much like in any other casino game, winning is never guaranteed. Splitting eights may bring you luck and then again you may end up with a lower hand than the dealer or you may just bust both hands. Understanding all rules of online blackjack will help you to make the decision on when to split and when to play with what you are dealt.
