Seventeen is the number that virtually every online blackjack player dreads to see. Players dealt the dreaded seventeen often feel doomed from the beginning. After all, you know that there is a good chance that the house will end up with a higher number but if you hit, then you run a very high risk of busting.
Seventeen can cause nightmares for some people
The dreaded seventeen can cause nightmares if you are not prepared and have no idea what to do with it. If you are dealt a soft seventeen however, your chances of winning are much higher. The only two endings to this scenario are that your next card can help you to reach a higher outcome or that you will need to change your Ace to a one in order not to bust.
Don’t worry, play smart!
Either way, you should not have the worries of busting with a soft seventeen. If you are dealt a hard seventeen, you should definitely keep your cool and stand. Your chances of having the higher hand are much greater than your chances of being deal a four or less if you hit.
It is much better to stand on a hard seventeen than to risk getting your hopes up for a four and being dealt a card that will cause you to bust.
